Mary "Pat" Piccolo passed away peacefully, at the age of 84, on January 23, 2015, in her Scottsdale home surrounded by loved ones. Pat was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and terrific friend. She was a woman of strong faith and her kindness and giving nature always brought out the best in everyone around her. Her husband, Frank Piccolo, preceded her in death. She is survived by her 4 children, sons Mike, Jim and John (Piccolo), and her daughter Nancy (Piccolo) Knoll, and her 8 grandchildren, Jenna, Allie, Chance and Samantha (Piccolo), and Chris, Ryan, Jason and Jared (Knoll). Mary Patricia Piccolo is also survived by three siblings, Jack Lannan, Betty (Lannan) Amento and Margaret (Lannan) Ernesti. Pat was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and terrific friend. She was a woman of strong faith and her kindness and giving nature always brought out the best in everyone around her. Her husband, Frank Piccolo, preceded her in death. Shortly after Frank graduated from University of Nebraska - Law School in Lincoln, he and Pat decided to make North Platte, Nebraska the place they would raise their family. Pat was very active in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Red Cross, and all of her children's extracurricular activities. After her children had grown, Pat fulfilled her entrepreneurial passion by founding the Christian Book and Gift store, The Shepard's, which fulfilled a lifelong dream. Her husband Frank passed away July 6, 1987 at the early age of 58. Shortly after his death, Pat decided she wanted to be closer to family and moved to Omaha, Nebraska and utilized her latest accomplishment working as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). As the majority of Pat's family moved to Scottsdale Arizona, so did she. In 1999 she settled into her new home, which was only a few feet from her best friend and sister, Betty Amento. Initially Pat worked as a meeting planner and traveled worldwide to places like Bali, Singapore, Hong Kong, Acapulco, Cancun, Puerto Rico. Two of her favorite trips were to South Africa on Safari and Cairo Egypt to see the pyramids. She retired in 2002 and enjoyed playing bridge, volunteering, reading and her frequent dinner excursions with her sister Betty and Betty's husband, Bob. She LOVED LIFE and LIVED IT TO THE FULLEST. A celebration of life for Mary Patricia Piccolo will be held on January 27th, 2015 at 11:00am at St. Bernard's of Clairvaux Catholic Church, 10755 North 124th Street, Scottsdale, Arizona. A reception will follow.
