Edward Stephen Smith, 91, joined a long list of "Heroes in Heaven" on January 22, 2016 and will be dearly missed.
Ed was the eldest child of John and Agnes Smith and was born in Chicago, Illinois, October 9, 1924. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Marilyn Shannon, Loretta, his wife of 55 years and sons Steve and Darin Smith. He is survived by his sister Vivian Mc Inerney, her sons Brian and Jack; daughters Maureen Beougher, Darlene Smith and son John P. Smith. Loving Grandchildren; Sean Beougher, Brandi Okrasinski, Cara Beougher and Savanah and Lexie Smith. Great Grandchildren; Chloe and Chase Okrasinski. Ed also leaves behind his loving companion of 12 years, Margaret Pesek.
Edward was inducted into the Army in 1943 and is a proud decorated veteran of World War II - D-Day + 2. He served with distinction in England, France, Belgium and Holland as a light machine gunner with Company D, 41st Armored Infantry Regiment, 2nd Armored Division. Edward's bravery and valor ...

My condolences and prayers for the Smith family. I am deeply sorry for your loss. Heaven has gained a beautiful man. Edward joined his beautiful wife Loretta and awesome son's Steve and Daryn in heaven. I can hear their laughter now. Ed Smith was the most kind, loving, unique and wonderful husband, father and grandfather I know. I admired Ed Smith and loved him so much.
